The EWI Scholarship Program (EWISP) is an arm of EWI’s Business/Career/Development Program, better known as B/C/DP. The B/C/DP began in 1974 when Sears, Roebuck & Co. invited EWI to become involved in a community project to encourage the development of careers in business among high school students. For 15 years, the program was co-sponsored and funded by EWI, Sears, Roebuck and Lanier Business Products. It became fully funded and administered by EWI in 1989 under the exempt status of the B/C/DP. Today, it is known as the B/C/DP Program and encompasses a broad range of educational and philanthropic endeavors. It is administered under strict compliance with IRS rules and governing a 501c3 organization.
This scholarship is recognized by Money magazine as one of the top 12 scholarships opportunities in the United States. EWISP allows selected students to compete at both the EWI Chapter and EWI National levels for scholarships.
To date, the National EWISP program has awarded over $400,000 in scholarships to high school students from all over the United States and Canada.
EWI of Milwaukee opens its competition in alternating years during February to all high school seniors of public, private and parochial high schools in the eight-county Southeastern Wisconsin area served by EWI of Milwaukee including Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties.
How does it work?
- Each high school can nominate one senior student to compete. Please note: the student must be nominated by their school or teacher.
- An application provided by EWI is completed by the student.
- The completed application is then turned over to our esteemed panel of judges who narrow the field down to 3 finalists.
- From there, finalists are then invited for a personal interview followed by the EWISP Awards Banquet where the first, second and third place winners are announced. In 2015, EWI of Milwaukee awarded $3,000 to the first place finalist, $2,000 to the 2nd place finalist and $1,000 to the 3rd place finalist.
2017 Applications are now closed
